Assistant Minister Wilson visits world-leading 1 Malop Street development
Quintessential Equity was delighted to welcome the Hon. Tim Wilson MP to our landmark development at 1 Malop Street, Geelong, last Friday.
Mr Wilson, Assistant Minister to the Minister for Industry, Energy and Emissions Reductions, visited the site as part of a national tour of various Australian clean-energy and low-emission projects.
As only the second project globally to achieve Platinum Core & Shell WELL Building Certification, it was an honour for our 1 Malop Street site to be included in the roadshow.
Mr Wilson’s visit was facilitated by Quintessential Equity’s Head of Existing Assets, Noah Warren, and
Construction and Design Manager (Development), Justin Murray.
“The Morrison Government is focused on empowering businesses and households to be part of our journey to carbon neutrality,” Assistant Minister Wilson said.
“The commercial building sector contributes around 10 per cent of Australia’s annual emissions and consumes 25 per cent of Australia’s electricity.
“The Commonwealth supported the upgrade of 1 Malop Street, Geelong, with a $68m loan from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation.
“The result is impressive! The 14-storey office building now has a 5.5 Star rating under the National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) – this represents an additional 25 per cent reduction in the building’s energy consumption and emissions.”

Construction of 1 Malop Street was completed in December 2017. The site features 14 levels of PCA A-Grade office facilities built on top of the historical façade of Geelong’s Dalgety & CO building.
It is currently home to WorkSafe Victoria’s 700+ staff, alongside other employees from Victoria Police and Allianz Insurance.
“From the moment we began construction, Quintessential Equity has been immensely proud to call itself the developer of 1 Malop Street,” said Mr Warren.
“For Assistant Minister Wilson to showcase our site in his national tour is wonderful recognition, and a testament to the project’s status as being at the global forefront of sustainability and occupant wellbeing.
“Energy efficient and sustainable commercial properties are the way forward, and Quintessential Equity is delighted to be at the forefront in this respect. We thank Assistant Minister Wilson and his team for taking the time to allow us to demonstrate the important work we are doing in the Australian property sector, and the Federal Government for their support in our project.”
