Senior Corporate Accountant

Melbourne

Position Statement

The Senior Corporate Accountant is a pivotal role responsible for delivering the organisation's financial operations. The Senior Corporate Accountant ensures accurate reporting, compliance with financial regulations, strategic budgeting, and effective financial analysis to support informed decision-making. Working closely with the GM of Finance and CFO and collaborating across functional teams is integral toachieving financial excellence

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Review and oversee the preparation of monthly financial and management reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Lead the analysis of actual performance against budget and forecasts, identifying variances and providing insights.
  • Ensure the general ledger integrity is maintained to reflect accurate financial performance.
  • Presentation of monthly reports and analysis to the senior leadership team.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Prepare the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist the GM of Finance to maintain financial models, scenarios, and projections to support strategic planning.

Annual Financial Statements and Tax Compliance

  • Review and oversee the preparation of annual financial statements for the corporate group.
  • Manage all tax compliance activities for the corporate group.

Payroll and Employee Benefits

  • Review and oversee monthly payroll preparation, including all its ancillary activities.

Insurance Management

  • Liaise with insurance brokers and internal stakeholders regarding the annual renewal and claims process.
  • Maintain Travel Insurance records and other ad hoc insurance requirements.

Regulatory Affairs and Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations, reporting standards, and corporate governance.
  • Assist in internal and external audit processes, providing required financial documentation.

Finance Systems and Processes

  • Drive the development and enhancement of finance systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Foster a culture of compliance and robust internal controls.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding all corporate finance-related inquiries and matters.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance financial processes and communication.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Assist the GM of Finance in managing and mentoring the junior finance team members, fostering their professional growth and performance excellence.
  • Promote teamwork, open communication, and a results-driven culture.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, enhance reporting efficiency, and drive accuracy.
  • Implement strategies of best practices within the finance function.

Strategic Support:

• Support the GM of Finance and CFO in strategic financial decision-making through data-driven insights.

  • Provide financial perspectives on potential opportunities, risks, and investments. Working closely with the GM of Finance and CFO and collaborating across functional teams is integral to achieving financial excellence.

Qualifications

·          Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a  related field. Further relevant professional certifications (e.g. CA, CPA)  are preferred.

  • Knowledge of tax regulations, compliance requirements, and tax optimisation strategies.

Experience

·          Minimum of 5 years work experience with 2 years in  a similar role.
