Geelong Advertiser | Construction of City HQ Wurriki Nyal complete
Quintessential is proud to announce that construction of the City of Greater Geelong’s new headquarters, Wurriki Nyal, is now complete. Quintessential has been a dedicated partner in the delivery of the $102.5 million precinct alongside CoGG, BESIX Watpac, COX Architecture, and the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation. The project, comprising of an office building at 137 Mercer Street, 2,500 sqm of new public realm, and 120 car bays, has invested more than $39 million directly into the G21 region and used 468 local workers.
Wurriki Nyal, meaning “speak and talk together” in Wadawurrung language, includes a Customer Service Centre open to the public on 5 September. Situated in central Geelong, the precinct is perfectly located for CoGG employees, all of whom will be relocated from existing offices by early September. Shane Quinn, Executive Chairman at Quintessential, said “The precinct accommodates for the rapid growth of Geelong in recent years, providing local workers with access to a highly designed and sustainable office spaces as well as café and retail facilities for all to enjoy.”
The precinct delivers on CoGG’s environmental aspirations, being the first building in Geelong to use mass engineered timber in its structure. The Mercer Street building maintains the highest quality architectural design and integrity in its Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) structure, also targeting a 6 Star Green Star Design and As-Built Rating and a 5 Star NABERS Base Building Energy Rating.
